New NFH Member
2019 Dues
Options

Happy New Year! For 2019, we are offering some new options for both new and renewing members.

We are pleased to announce several new dues options for 2019:

  • For individual members (both Regular and Associates), we now offer a 3-year membership, a $15 savings over annual dues payments.
  • For both individual members and member tract members, we offer a Cabin Membership, which includes 1 Regular Member, plus up to 4 Associate Memberships for a single discounted price. Great for family members or multi-owner cabins.
  • A Lifetime Membership with a one-time payment is available to any existing member.  No more dues payments……ever!

Read more about these options here. We appreciate members who can renew online by January 31st. It saves trees and helps us focus on serving the cabin community. Thanks again for your support of NFH.

Want to Comment on Your
Forest Plan Revisions?

As of approximately 2012, all National Forests have been in the process of revising their Land Management Plans.

Your forest may have completed the process, or may be taking comments as they get ready for finish up.

Read more about how you and/or your tract association might get involved in Forest Plans, how to advocate for the recreation residence program, and even see sample letters HERE.

To search for your Forest's plan, in your browser, use these keywords: forest, management, plan, revision, public comment, and draft plan.

Government Shutdown
& Impacts for Cabin Owners

The USFS contacted NFH and requested we pass on the following message to cabin owners regarding the recent government shutdown. Most cabin owners received their 2019 permit fee bills prior the shutdown and paid per normal terms.

If you haven’t received your permit fee bill for 2019, please contact your local permit administrator. For any bill received after January 1st, 2019, payment is due within 30 days of the bill date. It helps to include a copy of your bill when paying by check, or provide your bill number when paying online.

Also, the USFS asks for your patience as they work to catch up on all requests or projects submitted prior to and following the shutdown period. There is no additional funding or staff to help work through the backlog of requests and we can expect USFS deliverables to take longer than normal for some time.

NFH Annual Spring Conference
2019 in San Diego, California

Join cabin owners from around California and many from out of state for one and a half days of great information, enjoyable discussions with other cabin families and the opportunity to interact with the USFS.

NFH will hold its annual conference and membership meeting at The Dana in San Diego, on Friday May 3rd and Saturday, May 4th, 2019.

Our annual conference provides a practical program with useful information specific to permit holders in the Recreation Residence program and a collaborative atmosphere for engaging in dialog with the Forest Service.

Plus, we'll be staying right on Mission Bay with lots of activities nearby!

Want to help with our 2019 conference in San Diego or with a future event? Contact Executive Director, Sharon Leach.
