Cabin Insurance - Fire Defense Protection

I recall discussion regarding a private fire-fighting or fire-protection company that in recent years came into existence and had been marketing themselves to insurance companies as a preemptive service to provide structure protection in the event of forest or wildland fire. Could someone shed more light on that topic? It seemed very interesting and compelling.

I believe the firm you are referring to is Wildfire Defense Systems (WDS), headquartered in Bozeman, MT. The company provides services through various insurance companies, typically at no additional cost to the policy holder. Several of the larger insurance companies (e.g. State Farm) offer these services to their policy holders. The services are not offered directly to property (cabin) owners. Our Safeco policy includes WDS on our home and cabin policies at no additional charge.
