We are a family of 4 looking for a cabin within 1-2 hours of Truckee, CA.  We love the Lost Sierra area, the Hwy 88 corridor, & Echo Lake areas, and are open to anywhere we could go that’s not too terribly far away (we have an infant so being in the car too long is … tough!).

I first learned about forest service cabins about 9 years ago when doing a backpacking trip that started at Echo Lake, and have dreamt of one ever since.  The idea was rekindled last year when my 5yo daughter and I did a mom / daughter weekend at Silver Lake (off 88) and had the best time in the cabin in the woods we rented (Kit Carson Lodge).
