We've been leaving voice and emails for our Forest Service contact since October 2023 when we closed on our cabin.

To date none of the emails of voice mails have been returned. Is this typical Forest Service Behaviour?

The Forest Service contact emailed our realtor asking about our contact information, but when I returned email and left voice mails that day, no response. It's frustrating to have this lack of communication.

Hi D. Stephens!

Welcome and congratulations on your new cabin ownership !

My experience is that they, like us all, can get backed up and sometimes seasonally stretched thin - so I have learned patience and over communication is the best approach, especially if you think the topic is high value.

If it is something you feel is important, a paper trail through the USPS is probably the best. You are wanting to know that they have received your correspondence AND because they have a file on the lease, the correspondence will most likely find it way there.

That whole "trust but verify" quote comes to mind, to make sure things go smoothly for the long term.

Thanks Mr. Reed!
I did send a letter certified mail yesterday and finally got our representative on the phone. He indicated that there was indeed a backup and we had a nice conversation. Thanks so much for your kind reply.
Doug
