There are no Forest Service restrictions regarding the use of wireless devices or services to provide WIFI type internet connections at our cabins. The only consideration is if your wireless device uses an external dish, similar in size to a satellite TV dish. If so, you will need approval from the FS prior to installation because it may impact the visual appearance of your cabin. In most cases, the FS will approve the installation.

Most cellular wireless solutions, like a Mofi router or smartphone WIFI hotspot use smaller size antennas that generally aren't mounted on the exterior of a cabin. No FS approval is necessary for these types of devices.

Doug Gann
NFH Past President

Starlink works great and comes with the wifi router. Very simple to set up, plug and play. You do need a decent view of the sky without tree obstruction. My dish looks up about 45deg to the north (Colorado)
