Cabin Seller Information

The following information is provided to assist Sellers with using this listing service. All sellers should review the Guidelines for Rec Res Cabin Seller document below before proceeding.

Do I have to be a NFH member to post a Cabin for Sale listing?

Yes. Anyone can view listings, but only members who sign into the website have the ability to post an entry in the listing forum.  Non-members can become members by using Join NFH on the home page.  Once a cabin sells, NFH membership can be transferred to the new cabin owner by contacting the NFH Membership Administrator and providing the contact information for the new owner.

I don't know my username or password to sign in?

All NFH members have an on-line member account.  You can use the Forgot your password? function (enter your email address) to learn your username and reset your password, or enter a Help Request on the homepage to receive assistance from NFH Staff.

How do I post a listing?

Use the following steps:

  • Select New Topic (listing) at the top of the Cabin for Sale forum.

  • Enter the State prefix, followed by the Forest name and/or general location of your cabin in the Subject line of the posting.

  • Provide a brief description of your cabin for sale in the Editor message box, including your contact information (email address and/or phone number). We suggest beginning your description by stating "for sale by owner" or "for sale by agent".  You can add a URL link to your Realtor's on-line listing in the same message box, using the Insert function.

  • You can also attach a Sales Flyer pdf document and/or a photos of your cabin.  Just 'drag and drop' the file(s) into the Attach Image(s) and/or File(s) box.

Once you submit your listing, you can return to edit your listing at any time.  We suggest you have the sales flyer document & photo files ready to upload prior to posting your entry.

How long does my listing run?

Listings will be removed after 6 months, however, the member can extend their listing by contacting the NFH Membership Administrator.  Once a cabin sells, please contact the NFH Membership Administrator to have the listing removed.

Can my Real Estate Agent enter a listing?

This listing service is intended to complement local or regional Real Estate services, as well as, assist a sale-by-owner seller.  A real estate agent can assist the cabin owner with the listing information, however the actual posting must be made by a signed-in member.  The contact information in the listing can be the cabin owner's real estate agent.

Does NFH screen prospective buyers?

No.  Cabin for Sale listings are viewable by anyone on the internet.  The contact information in the listing message is the only method for buyers to contact sellers.  NFH has no knowledge regarding prospective buyers and assumes no responsibility for any interaction between buyer and seller using this site.

Is there an additional fee if my cabin sells as a result of this service?

No. Your only obligation is to inform NFH of the sale and provide the buyers contact information if you are transferring your NFH membership to them.  While there is no additional fee, a donation to NFH is always appreciated!
