Outstanding National Service

Outstanding National Service Award

With this award, NFH recognizes an individual who has made a significant contribution to the overall success of the cabin program.  The award is generally, but not always, awarded to an individual outside of the member community and is nominated by one or more NFH Officers or Directors.

2023: Congressman Tom McClintock, California District 5

2019: Judy Ervin, Metolius River Tract, Deschutes National Forest, given in honor of her service and that of Bob Ervin, long-time NFH Executive Director during a critical time.

2017: James Sauser, given posthumously to his family including Andrew and Margie Sauser. Jim was USFS Pacific Northwest Region Special Uses Lands Program Manager, and briefly served as an Associate Member Director with NFH.

2016: Greg Smith, Director Lands & Real Estate, U.S. Forest Service, Washington D.C.; and Kim Brower, Acting Director of Public Services, U.S. Forest Service, Pacific SW Region

2015:  Aubrey King, NFH Washington D.C. Representative

2013: Jon Tester, U.S. Senator, Montana; and Thomas Tidwell, Chief U.S. Forest Service, Washington D.C.

2012: Doc Hastings, U.S. Representative, Washington State 4th District

2008: Mark Rey, Undersecretary of Agriculture, USDA
