About NFH Membership

Why Join National Forest Homeowners?

Unusual challenges and exceptional rewards come with owning these retreats in our National Forests.

At NFH, our mission is to ensure the future of the Recreation Residence Program in our National Forests, and to advocate for the interests of permit holders.

We maintain a help line for member questions, this website with members-only educational resources for the cabin community, and networking opportunities for cabin owners at our annual events.

NFH has a positive relationship with the Forest Service working to find solutions to our shared challenges.

NFH is a community of cabin owners across the nation, working together for the benefit of cabin life.

Our strength is built on our broad national membership base.

We are the national voice for permit holders and we're here for you - the cabin owner.

What kinds of NFH membership are available?

Regular Members are cabin owners and often the permit holder. Associate Members are typically extended family or others who share the pleasures and responsibilities of cabin owners. Click HERE to review our dues options before proceeding to our Join NFH page. If you are part of a tract association, your association may be an NFH member tract - if so, do not join online via this website. See below.

What is a Member Tract Association?

National Forest Homeowners has relationships with many local cabin tract associations. NFH Member Tract Associations are partners in all that we do to support this cabin program, from sharing information to communicating with the Forest Service. NFH Member Tracts receive a discount.  For more information, see our Member Tract Flyer.  If you are in a member tract, contact your local association leadership for more information about joining NFH.

Not sure if you are in an NFH Member Tract? You can verify using the Cabin Association Directory.  If you are not part of a current Member Tract with NFH, you might encourage your local organization to consider becoming one and saving local members on annual dues.

Selling the Cabin?

Membership is transferable upon change of cabin ownership.
Let us know the new owner's contact information and we'll
transfer the remaining portion
of your current NFH membership
to the new cabin owner.

Encourage new permit holders to learn about the cabin program
from the association that knows it best - NFH!

Renewals: All memberships renew in January for individual members, but for member tracts, renewal takes place on your tract’s specified renewal date.
